Paschim Banga Vigyan Mancha, kalna zonal committee, proved its efficiency in the field of technology transfer
during the last two decades. District Science and Technology Centre of Paschim Banga Vigyan Mancha Burdwan district committee
, is located at office campas of Paschim Banga Vigyan Mancha, kalna zonal committee. Mainly better building technology has
been spreading through this centre since 1995, in the different areas of district of Burdwan, and adjacent areas of other
district like Nadia, Hooghly, etc. Many domestic building, primary schools, class rooms and halls of high schools and college,
primary health centres have been constructed by innovative technology. We have organized workshops for the training of masons.
Many masons have been directly trained through the active participation with this construction works. Masons trained with
this technology are also taking part for the spreading of this technology. We have innovated a special type of tiles to be
used as filler materials. Local small scale industry has been engaged for the production of these tiles.
We have achieved
a landmark in this field on 2002. We took part in Valmiki Ambedkar Malin Basti Abas Yojana and started our effort for construction
of 200 dwelling house of 210 sqft with filler slab, frameless window, stab foundation, with this technology for BPL people.
Kalna Municipality selected us for this technology. We have completed that task with in stipulated period. We also renovated
5o houses in this project.
This projected has been visited by many Chairman and councilors of different Municipalities
and engineers of Municipality, SUDA, Municipal engineering directorate and it was highly appreciated by them. After completion
this project was inaugurated by Sri Ashoke Bhattacharyya, Hon'ble Minister of Municipal affairs, WB Govt. and he handed over
the KEYs of the newly constructed dwelling units to the beneficiaries. He expresses this project as an example for such jobs.
This construction technique has been popular to the common people. Peoples from different section accepted this technology
and built their building with this technology as it is low cost and energy efficient technology. Rural technology centre of
Burdwan and Kalyani University has been completed and started respectively with this technology by us.
